AXIOMS OF CHRISTIANITY
THE TWO AXIOMS
OF LORD YESHUA

INTRODUCTION
If one regards - the words of Lord Yeshua, as being not just the 'Foundations' of his teaching - often referred to as 'Christianity' - but it is also - the "beginning" and the "end" - "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Revelation 1:8, KJV)
Given that, there can be no dispute, about his teachings - as a consequence, there should be no dispute.
Where can one find, in his words, the most succinct expression of his teachings. These are contained in Matthew 22:37-39, KJV, which are detailed below.
DEFINITIONS & AXIOMATIC CHRISTIANITY
In mathematics an axiom can be defined as a foundational statement. It serves, as a starting point for logical reasoning. Through its consideration, secondary principles can be derived about the subject matter.
We can see from the verses, Matthew 22:37-39, KJV that it comprises two parts. There is -
(1) "the obligation of the individual, to God"
(2) "the obligation of the individual, to everyone else." (One could argue by extension, that the word everything else, could be substituted. But that would be an extension, which would rely on "discourse" or an exposition of the axiom.)
For convenience, we shall therefore define as 'Axioms' the biblical paragraphs of Matthew 22:37-39, KJV.
AXIOM 1:
"OBLIGATION
TO GOD"
"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment." (Matthew 22:37-38, KJV)
AXIOM 2:
"OBLIGATION TO EVERYONE ELSE / EVERYTHING ELSE"
"And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." (Matthew 22:39, KJV)
TWO AXIOMS:
JUSTIFICATION
1
PURPOSE OF
THE AXIOMATIC APPROACH
The purpose of this axiomatic approach to the teachings of Lord Yeshua, is to provide an "indisputable" - "point of reference" - for any who wish to consider, his teachings.
THE BEGINNING
& THE END

This being the case - these "Two Axioms" - represent - the "beginning" and the "end" of the teachings of Lord Yeshua and by extension, Christian teaching.
THE OLD TESTAMENT,
THE GOSPELS &
THE NEW TESTAMENT
ET AL.
SECONDARY REFERENCES
Anything beyond the axioms - the 'Two Axioms" of his system - Lord Yeshua's teaching system - should be regarded as "secondary references" - be they "parable" - "maxim" - "aphorism" - "recorded dialogue" - "recorded events" - they are all "secondary references" and can be regarded as "discourses" - "expositions" and "exigencies" of his teaching system.
UNIVERSALITY OF TEACHING,
BELIEF & FAITH
Given the correct understanding of the nature of these "Two Axioms" - anyone is a follower of Lord Yeshua - who practices them. There is no necessary further requirement - they are "secondary references" - ways by which a measurement - can be made of an individual's capacity - or success or failure, to adhere to his words - they are not distinguishing requirements. For it is such distinctions over the millennia - that has brought the teachings of Lord Yeshua, to such a lowly position, among the myriad of world religions.
Finally, we can provide, by way of completion - "The Justification" - for treating the above "Two Axioms" - as representing "Cosmic Truth" - as it was expressed, by Lord Yeshua.
We do this, through the statement - "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." (Matthew 22:40)
It is clear therefore, that Lord Yeshua expressed his own teachings, what has been known as Christianity, with these "Two Axioms." For the avoidance of any doubt - the axioms are a literal presentation of the text, from the King James Version. For completeness, the Greek original text, is provided in the footnotes.
Further, in relation to Lord Yeshua - we have to establish his authority, to say the things he did. In a sense, this is not strictly necessary - since the axioms, are an expression of his own teachings and they purport to represent the words he spoke. However, for completeness, we can quote his own words, about his status - "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." (Matthew 5:17, KJV)

So what of the other words, both in terms of scripture and secondary sources. In accordance with this axiomatic approach, they must all be regarded as secondary references, in relation to his teachings. This also relates to words and other expressions, made by Lord Yeshua himself. In a sense, he too is bound by these axioms - for that is what he said.
